Hitting the ground running

No observation round: from Wednesday’s professional day, the Paris+ fair immediately produced results.

The continuity with the FIAC is a fact, and the organizers do not deny it: some galleries have almost kept the same locations as last year, such as neugerriemschneider or Nahmad Contemporary, with a Picasso’s Déjeuner sur l’herbe and a great Dubuffet. The entrance and exit circuit is the same, as is the lounge on the first floor and the extension towards the Eiffel Tower: it is not easy to imprint a Paris+ brand in the planimetry of the ephemeral Grand Palais! But the Art Basel touch was obviously visible in other ways: the gallery owners were pleased with the set-up, which was carried out efficiently with a good finish to the stands, despite the complications linked to strikes and fuel shortages. Then, curiosity was obviously aroused: despite the strict policy of invitations (which gave rise to complaints), we noted a rush from 10 a.m., when the privileged "First Choice" arrive, which became a real crowd from 2 p.m., for the second wave of VIPs.
