In recent years, while the South Korean market has been on a roll, the Japanese and even Chinese contemporary art markets have been less successful. Buoyed by historic artists, new generations are struggling to make inroads on the European scene. Today, interest is focused on a wider Asia. We're witnessing an awakening of curiosity, usually via small galleries from Southeast Asia, Indonesia, the Philippines.... “This is also true of Asia Now, a fair that was originally focused on China,” says art advisor Daniel Blaize. “Even if it's small in relation to the contemporary art market in general, this event, which has become a permanent fixture, shows that there is a real interest in Asian art and its diversity, and that collectors are betting on these markets.”
