It's a big change: organized since 1998 at the Brussels Expo, Art Brussels is moving to the Tour & Taxis building next year. “Like those being observed in other big cities housing an important fair, like FIAC in Paris, Frieze in London, Art Basel in Basel, we decided that it had become imperative to anchor the Art Brussels fair in the heart of the city's cultural ferment and to establish it near galleries, art centers, restaurants and hotels, at a prestigious site easily attainable for both national and foreign visitors,” said Anne Vierstraete, the fair's Managing Director. Exhibitors are applauding the move. “It's fantastic,” said Nathalie Obadia. “With the Independent fair in the city center, Art Brussels had to make this move, too.” Her colleague, Rodolphe Janssen, member of the selection committee, had nothing bad to say: “This is the third year we're working on it. We need a place that's less corporate, that looks more like Belgium in an area of the city that's growing.” The fair will have to welcome fewer galleries in 2016 because of the move.
